miami hurricanes coaches jedd fisch al golden mark d'onofrio the uMonday was media day at The U, in the wake of the loss to Virginia, and our own Brian ‘The Beast’ London was down at Greentree and Hecht getting audio.

There’s a lot of ‘coachspeak’ in this sport and for some folks, this clip will be more of the same.

That said, some folks will want to hear this as the post-game audio featuring head coach Al Golden, offensive coordinator Jedd Fisch and defensive coordinator Mark D’Onofrio goes into some nitty-gritty here.

Upward of thirty minutes of footage. Not for everyone, as those who want to shoot holes and come with an agenda always will, but for those with an open mind and believing in the process, it’s worth the listen. Click here to check it out.

  1. Unless Coach Golden is talking about making major changes in the offseason then it’s still pretty much coachspeak to me

  2. I understand “the process’, but I’m really not certain that Coaches D’Onofrio and Fisch are good enough to actually get us to the result that we all desire.

    • … and time will tell. I’m not sure, either … but I AM sure that two years isn’t enough time and that both lack the personnel they need to see if their systems do, or do not, work. D’Onofrio and the defense MUCH MORE than Fisch and the offense.

  3. Thanks, but no thanks on the Cane ” coach speak ” link. Because I’ve had ENOUGH of the EXCUSE rhetoric and what not. Especially from that Miami D-coordinator.

And yes, I’ve bloody well GONE ON RECORD that I have a personal BIAS against Miami’s defensive schemes since last season! Simply becaue D-E-F-E-N-S-E wins conference championships and Miami will NEVER win a A.C.C. championship with D’Onofrio on the sidelines!! Eh. What say.

By the way, I recall major college basketball H.O.F. head coach Luther LUTE Olson’s coach speak on true freshmen and or RS-freshmen. Basically, he said that young players are SOPHOMORES by the time March rolls around.

For instance, freshmen whom played MANY, MANY minutes and or STARTED under Coach Olson, were at a ” sophomore ” level when it came to game experience by the time late February and March rolled around. Thus, the NO EXCUSE FACTOR and his young freshmen!!!!

In other words, the University of Arizona Wildcat hoops fandom NEVER, NEVER, EVER heard the lame arse EXCUSE from Olson and his staff, that they were playing too many freshmen, ONCE LATE February and or March came about!!! dUh

Again, Olson’s many, many, many true freshmen and or RS-freshmen were CONSIDERED ” sophomores ” by the time the calender moved on to LATE February and the entire month of March.

And believe it or not, Coach Olson STARTED numerous true freshmen and or played many freshmen DOUBLE-DIGIT minutes during his Hall of Fame stint in Tucson.

And yes, Arizona’s young players were playing with experience upper-classmen, but the point is not to play the EXCUSE card when it comes to frehsmen.

  4. Chit, I still can’t get over the past fact, that a LAME ARSE Virginia offense drove the length of the field and came away with a victory!

Bottom line is this particular Hurricane defensive scheme just DOESN’T put ” average-to-below average players ” in the BEST POSSIBLE position to SUCCEED!!!!! dUh ENTER Boston College and Virginia to name a few offenses Miami has faced this season.

Nothing AGAINST the Canes current defensive players. However, U’ALL Hurricane fandom continue to HARP and BLOVIATE, that MOST of Miami’s current D-starters couldn’t start for the VAST MAJORITY of AVERAGE major college football teams. dUh

    Bon jour

    • … same way North Carolina probably wonders how it beat Miami but let Georgia Tech put 68 points in their defense. It happens, man. One-point loss after the offense went cold (didn’t score again after 11:38 mark in fourth) and a few big plays given up on the final drive.

Predicted fifth in the Coastal for a reason, brother. Miami isn’t a good team this year and teams that aren’t good can lose games to lesser teams.

Virginia was picked fourth in the Coastal this year. They’ve underachieved, but certainly aren’t as bad as their record — as proven by beating North Carolina State, 33-7 — the same Wolfpack team that beat the Noles.

  5. It does help me to read your comments admin! Cause I am so pissed we lost UVA, coaches and players need to be accountable. Now get pissed off Canes and take it out on these final two games, please!!

  6. I AM TRYING TO BE PATIENT WITH THE “YOUNG” AND FACED WITH “ISSUES” OVER THE PAST 6 YEARS AS OTHER YOUNG , CHANGING TEAMS IMPROVE.. UNC, ND, UF, TA&M, OSU, USC , WHILE WE ARE STUCK IN MUD… BUT I CAN NOT GET PAST THE CALL LAST WEEK AGAINST UVA WITH ABT 4.5 LEFT IN 4TH AHEAD 5, WE ARE ON “ABT” UVA 47 YD LINE , 4TH AND “ABT” 4 AND WE GIVE THEM THE BALL IN A GAME WHERE NEITHER D COULD MAKE A STOP. OUR RUN GAME WAS WORKING WELL, AS WELL AS DUMP PASS. I THINK WE MAKE IT AND SCORE, BUT EVEN IF WE GET FG AND USE 2 MINS WE FORCE THEM TO SCORE AND GO FOR 2. REALLY BAD CALL THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN EASY THE WAY THE ENTIRE GAME HAD GONE????
