anybody know why we are giving this guy any of our time? he's a loser plain and simple.
the real story tonight is the fact that our basketball team got screwed pretty hard tonight in the second half and i'm pretty sure the refs didn't take them to dinner first. there was no whine and dine on this one. I feel bad for our boys. but like usual when playing carolina or duke no calls are the norm when the beloved devils or heels are losing. Kaji gets elbowed in the face no call grant gets tackled to the ground basically on a loose ball no call. big reg gets raped under the glass on the offensive and defensive sides no calls. carolina has no fouls called on them til the nine minute mark in the first and second halves. if i'm coach l i tell the team one you guys played your hearts out and two you just had a first class screw job.
I used to play basketball and i remember over the back being a rule which zeller and henson and crew were not called for all night which led to offensive boards. Zeller reaching the whole night on johnson and kaji every time they posted up. no calls all night. I'm all four letting guys play but it has to be both ways the whole night not only if the game is close and then bs calls until carolina catches up and then no calls to end the night.
Good job canes boys basketball from the games i've seen you belong in the tourney and the refs deserve a good old fashioned beat down by you south floridians.

Woot! I can't wait for the football program to get rolling again. Coach Golden and the rest of the staff will hopefully push these guys to make them competition ready by fall. The hours and dedication spent in the spring will pay dividends in August. You reap what you sow.

I found Hurley's admiration of Golden interesting. I think that is a rare thing in sports where there is a genuine admiration for the head coach. Golden has clearly made an impact not only on the program but on everyone around him.

What a great article.. I loved it and you outdid yourself!
Like others have said.. I do hope we can get another ruin going.. And with everything Al Golden is doing, it may just happen.. I also credit UM for hiring coach Golden... They finally got it right again.

Doesn't matter what Florida or Florida State did on the field during that run. The Canes are 41-35 since the 2005 Peach Bowl and had back-to-back duds as head coaches. Both the Gators and Noles pulled kids out of South Florida that were gimmies regarding going to UM. Whether our rivals capitalized or not, both programs were better off when the Canes were off the map and had dead weight at the head coaching position.

Miami has a read head coach now. The first one since Butch Davis said bye-bye in January 2001. UF and FSU fans both know it, even if they're too egotistical or pig-headed to admit it.

After a 41-35 run since the 2005 Peach Bowl, a safe bet that everyone associated with this program - coaches, players and fans - that everyone is "reserving judgment".

That said, anyone who can't see the difference between Al Golden and Randy Shannon, they're nuts. Golden came to UM a proven head coach where Shannon was a crap shoot that people hoped worked out, due to local ties and his Miami connection.

The 2008 class was ranked high because of so many Northwestern kids, but we saw over time that Shannon and staff poorly developed kids and didn't focus on conditioning. Goods kids were in the doghouse and never got a chance (re: Tommy Streeter, Arthur Brown, etc.) and the program was a mess from top to bottom - right down to how coaches dealt with the politics of college ball - shaking hands and kissing babies.

Golden and staff helped resurrect the career of Jacory Harris (until the BC finale) and Streeter, while getting much out of true freshmen like Denzel Perryman and Anthony Chickillo. The culture is changing. You can feel it.

Furthermore, it's not about class rank as much as it is about meeting needs, quality of kids and the regions from where Golden and staff were pulling kids. Many of the kids Miami just reeled in -- if the past regime was still underway, those were recruiting battles UM most-likely would've lost. Especially with negative recruiting and things new UM coaches had to overcome.

Again, that's just an opinion, but it's rooted in logic. After fourteen months of watching Golden do his thing, there's no doubt this dude knows what he's doing.

look, I don't want to be a negative nancy, but we must reserve judgement until the season starts. We were also very happy about the 2008 class and look how that turned out. hopefully, 2012 is legit.

pfttt....You really think the Gators and Noles enjoyed the Shannon/Coker eras? Well ok, the Gators yes, but then again, you had Urban Meyer in that time and no lie, he's pretty good at recruiting but the NOLES STILL SUCKED LOL. In a way, I guess they stole recruits but for what!?! They were still pitiful lmao!! I read a tweet by you or the Beast(idk who does the majority tweeting here) on the Noles recruiting class and it said something like, "CONGRATS on your 15th consecutive top 5 class, look how many rings it has brought you". I found that hilarious and true but anyways, this is a website to talk about Canes and praise our boys so let me stay on course. I really really really love what Golden is doing here and I pray that these young men work hard and trust the coach to succeed because I truly believe that when these boys work hard and play with that Miami attitude, I don't think anyone can hang with our boys, just look at those games that they come ready to play in (GT 2009, Texas A&M 07, OSU 2011, VT 2005, etc..all ass whoopings against quality opponents at the respective time)...

I agree that a run like that will never happen again. For every great player golden recruits there are two to three great players that are more than happy to take the money and go to a middling school like Louisville. So when big schools like bama or UF or FSU offer money those recruits will jump at the chance. Miami fights for recruits with one hand tied behind its back due to the limited resources it has. But golden is the right man for the job and this years class will be the foundation of great things to come.
